For this residential flooring project in Omokoroa, the homeowner contacted Floorical to help complete the installation of SPC flooring throughout the main living areas of the home, including the lounge, dining area, kitchen, and hallway.
The homeowner had already made a great start on the project by removing the existing carpet and skirting boards, as well as installing a portion of the SPC flooring themselves. They reached out to our team to complete the remaining areas and ensure a professional, consistent finish throughout the home.

Installation Process
Before installation commenced, our team carried out a thorough inspection of the existing floor to ensure it was suitable for the SPC flooring installation and to identify any areas that required attention.
We then discussed the installation plan with the homeowner and agreed on the best starting point. As a section of SPC flooring had already been installed, it made sense to begin from the hallway and continue from the existing flooring. This approach ensured a seamless transition between the previously installed section and the new flooring, while maintaining a consistent running direction throughout the home.
To minimise disruption to the household, the installation was carefully broken down into manageable sections. This allowed the family to continue using parts of the home while work progressed through the lounge, dining area, kitchen, and hallway. Throughout the project, we maintained clear communication with the homeowner so they always knew which areas would be worked on next and what to expect each day.
By planning the installation in stages and maintaining a tidy work environment, we were able to complete the project efficiently while making day-to-day living as comfortable and convenient as possible for the homeowner.
Challenges & Solutions
One of the main challenges on this project was working around an existing brick wall. Because the brick wall was structural, it could not be undercut like standard skirting or timber trims.
To achieve the best possible finish, we discussed the options with the client and proposed leaving a suitable expansion gap around the brickwork, then finishing it with a colour-matched sealant selected to blend in with the brick grout.
This approach allowed the SPC flooring to be installed correctly while still achieving a clean and tidy finish around the brick feature. The end result worked out beautifully, with the finished edge blending naturally into the existing brickwork.
